Should Christians live according to the scripture like the Pharisees did?

The purpose of the Bible is to reveal Jesus Christ and what he has accomplished on our behalf. There are basically 2 ways to live the Christian life; that is by the spirit of Jesus Christ or by the Bible.

If you live the Christian life by the Bible, you will be living according to the law, like the Pharisees did. Christians who believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God are Fundamentalists. The Bible can be divided into 2 parts; that which says "Do", which is law, and that which says "Done", which is gospel. A good example of living by the spirit of Jesus Christ and living by the Bible, or law, is the parable of the good Samaritan. The Bible says a certain man was traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho when thieves attacked him. They stripped him of his garments, beat him up, and left him a bloody mess lying in the ditch. Along comes a Levite priest who saw the man lying in the ditch and passed by on the other side of the road. Why did he do this? Because according to Old Testament scripture, if he touched the injured man, and got some of his blood on himself, he would be unclean. He was living by the Bible. Then the good Samaritan came along, bandaged up his wounds, took him to a hotel, paid for the room, and told the clerk that if there was more expense he would take care of it. The Samaritan was living by the spirit of Jesus Christ.
