Why is today's Christianity different from early Christianity?

The early Christians, like the apostles, did not have a religion. All they had was faith in Christ. The Bible that is the New Testament had not been written yet. Only the Pharisees had access to the Old Testament scriptures. Word about Christ was communicated orally. Such as on the day of Pentecost when Peter stood up and preached the gospel and 5000 were saved. Because the gospel is not being preached today, there is no persecution. Preaching of the gospel brings persecution, it always has and it always will.

Read Fox's "Book of Martyrs". The early Christians were fed to the lions, set on fire, and crucified because of their faith in Christ. The trouble usually begins when you start telling people that are religious and self righteous that they are Hell bound if they don't repent of their religion and accept Christ as their saviour. Some people get very angry when you pull their religious rug out from underneath them. All of the apostles, except for John, died violent deaths because of their stand for Christ and his gospel.

The apostle Paul said, "Yes, all that will live Godly in Jesus Christ shall suffer persecution." - 2nd Timothy 3:12
